Restored Gishwati-Mukura Park Open For Chimpanzee Trekking

14 December 2020

On November 19, Rwanda was placed on the UK’s Travel Corridor meaning that travellers returning to the UK from Rwanda no longer need to quarantine for 14 days.

Rwanda is now exempt from the UK Foreign Office’s blanket advisory against all non-essential international travel once the current restrictions in the UK are lifted.

Meanwhile, RwandAir is offering all passengers that buy tickets from 1 November 2020 up to October 2021 automatic travel cover including Covid-19 expenses at the destination.

The travel cover is valid for 31 days for one-way tickets and 90 days whilst overseas after the commencement of the trip.

With this growing interest in Rwanda’s touristic attractions, Rwanda Development Board said Tuesday that the newly restored Gishwati-Mukura National Park was now open for business.

RDB announced the opening of the Forest of Hope Guest House and Camp Site. The guest house features two serviced double en-suite rooms for a maximum of four guests, offering a basic standard of accommodation, three wholesome meals a day and non-alcoholic beverages.

The camp site offers un-serviced facilities for a maximum of eight campers, according to RDB.
This park hosts the world’s last remaining chimpanzees, and golden and mountain monkeys in their natural habitat; there is also excellent birding as well as authentic cultural and community exchanges.

“The Forest of Hope Guest House and Camp Site is another great addition to Rwanda’s lodging facilities that attract visitors from around the world, and offer world class tourism experiences,” adds Belise Kariza, Chief Tourism Officer at the Rwanda Development Board.
