Ndege Tours & Travel have collaborated with CNN award-winning journalist Angus Begg in planning special interest itineraries around Rwanda.

An experienced TV producer and photojournalist turned private safari guide, Angus reported on the genocide for South African national radio in 1994. He returned for a first visit to the mountain gorillas in 2000, and later again to write business and travel stories on Rwanda’s resurrection. On these trips he had his first chimpanzee experience, and fell in love with Nyungwe National Park - arguably Africa’s largest chunk of afromontane rainforest - and the feel of a country undoing the myriad injustices of the past.

Angus has been telling stories for decades since his days as a novice journalist covering Nelson Mandela’s release, subjects ranging from politics and current affairs to conservation and travel. His storytelling experience in Rwanda - on top of covering migrations in Tanzania and Kenya, conflict in Somalia and South Africa’s first democratic elections – cemented his enthusiasm for the narratives to be found in the wildlife tourism and conservation industry. During this period, in which he visited most of the national parks and game reserves in Southern Africa, he and the safari industry discovered each other.

With various commendations stuffed into his back pocket over the next 25 years, Angus used his experience and talents to start his next career of private guide and safari itinerary designer and keynote speaker.

Cape Town-born, he loves little better than sharing his passion for the bush, Africa’s cultures, cuisine, rhinos, primates, elephants, cats birds and pangolin, entertaining his guests with stories of his travels across sub-Saharan Africa.

After weeks of travelling the country with a recent Rwandan Guide of the Year, Angus has produced a selection of themed itineraries that include significant personalities, showing off the best of Rwanda, Africa’s 21st century poster-child.
We look forward to hosting you on one of our custom safaris, in a country where you will always feel welcome and safe.

Guests on tour will be guided by a local guide. Angus can join guests as a host, adding his experience of Rwanda and the sub-continent upon request.
